Hot Child (Gator) in the City (Country)

Today I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a LONG time,,,

Get. Some. Sun!

The temps today were miserably hot, thwarting any chance of a run this morning. Instead, I made plans to get a full dose of much needed vitamin D. First stop, Target, for my annual kiddie pool purchase. Well, not quite annual. It’s actually been a few years since I’ve bought one. I’m quite a wimp when it comes to laying out. I usually bail quite early when the sweat starts beading. But with the help of a vat of water to keep my bod a little under boiling temp, I’m golden.

Minor problem. I bought a pool that was 58″ in diameter (this girl is about 63″, whoops). I clearly had not had my daily dose of caffeine and therefore did not realize this until I got home and my husband noted how the teeny tiny children on the box cover barely fit inside. Frustrated, I drove myself to Meijer where I scored something much more sizeable.

My friend Angie came up from Fishers to partake in ‘Pool Day’ while our husbands went to play golf. With a handful of magazines, tall non-alcoholic bevs and SPF 30, we got to “work.”

Allie’s day care report cards sometimes indicate that she likes to hang out in the doggie pool when it’s nice outside. So I figured she would be all up in our grill while we were trying to relax. Surprisingly, she stayed back for awhile, but eventually creeped up when she realized she could get a nice cool drink. After that, we couldn’t keep her away. First came the front paws. Then a back leg up on the side. And then she was in. Prompting us to jump out in the event that she started getting wet ‘n wild. I stood back and took pictures instead. Boy, do I have a cute furbaby 🙂

The. Cutest. Ever.

Now, some video action. She started off a little cautious.

But quickly became a little frisky.

We now have one tired pup. And one tired mama, who’s already had her bedtime snack and is ready to zonk out. Morning run & road trip tomorrow! xo.

That is pretty rad with the furbaby … is that your backyard?

Sure is! All 2.5 acres of it! Pretty nice for a rental, eh?
